Idea for film

Genre:  film.

Plot:

Elizabeth a 17 year old girl, is staying home alone for the week while her newly married father and stepmother, go on their honeymoon to New York City. Elizabeth was suppose to be going on the trip with her father and her stepmother Karen, but Elizabeth refused as herself and Karen do not see eye to eye. Elizabeth's mother was murdered when she was 13 years old and Elizabeth feels her fathers new relationship means that he does not love her mum any more and she feels that her father has no time for her, therefore she has distanced herself from him. Elizabeth has had a gut feeling for a few months that she has been watched, but due to her relationship status with her father and stepmother, she hasn't confined in anyone but her best friend Katie, who doesn't see it as been a problem and has said that maybe Elizabeth's just been paranoid.
Throughout her week alone Elizabeth's gut feeling has become worse and worse, she has noticed strange things happening around her house, and cannot help but feel that there is a strange presence where ever she goes, including her journey to and from college. She doesn't want to alarm her father and Karen so she doesn't tell them about the strange goings on. Elizabeth notices that strange things are happening, her cat hasn't been home since her father and Karen has left, she found the french doors of her house wide open and she was woken up on numerous occasions throughout the week by screaming noises in the street and the flash light of a torch shining into her bedroom window. Which when she investigated, by looking out of the window had suddenly disappeared. Elizabeth put it down to a 'bad dream' and convinced herself that it is her mind playing tricks with her.
The truth is, it isn't Elizabeth's mind playing tricks, she is in fact been stalked by the man who murdered her mother. On the night when her father and Karen are expected home, Elizabeth rushes down stairs when she hears the door slam shut, she runs down happily, realising how unpleasant she has been and wanting to greet her father and step mum. When she walks into the front room she see's a hooded figure sat on the sofa with a knife and a cut out of a newspaper article of her mums death. She realises he is the one who murdered her mum, she panics and screams, running to the stairs. He chases her up the stairs and  she runs into the bedroom, locking the door behind her. The murder starts to kick at the door and he starts to smash it in, breaking the wood of the door. Elizabeth goes over to the window to shout for help, when she see's her father and Karen reversing the car up the drive. She knows that they are at harm, so she chooses to not draw attention to them so that they get hurt. They come through the door, and the murder stops kicking at the door. She hears silence. He goes down stairs. After a few seconds she starts to panic, she knows that something needs to be done or her father, karen and herself will be murdered like her mother was. She hears screams in the front room. She runs down the stairs and runs round the outside of her house going through the kitchen door. She rings the police. She hears Karen scream, and in a blind panic picks up a bread knife from the kitchen draw. She tiptoes into the front room, where her father is laid unconscience and Karen is  begging and crying whilst the murder man is waving a knife in her face. Elizabeth stabs the murder with the bread knife. The police arrive, and Elizabeth, Karen and her father are all sat in the back of an ambulance reunited and lucky to be alive.
